Privacy PolicyEffective date: April 2026 · Last updated: April 2026

Holodeck Archive ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent fan project developed by James Booker. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. We are committed to collecting only what is necessary to make the app work.

1. Information We Collect

Account information (if you sign in)

Holodeck Archive offers optional account creation via email and password, handled by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). If you create an account we collect:

Collection data (if you sign in)

When you mark items as Owned, Read, or Want, or set a Currently Reading / Currently Listening title, that data is stored in Google Firestore under your account so it can sync across your devices. This data consists only of the item IDs and boolean flags you set — we do not store any personal reading notes unless you explicitly type them.

Local data (all users)

If you use the app without signing in, your collection state is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device. Catalogue content (book covers, metadata) is cached to disk to speed up future loads. This cache contains only publicly available information sourced from the Star Trek Book Club website and community wikis.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, location data, contacts, photos, or any other personal data beyond what is described above. Analytics and advertising are explicitly disabled in our Firebase configuration. There are no third-party advertising SDKs in this app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the app.
